Gym Leader #8: Giovanni - Ground
Giovanni has five Pokemon; Rhyhorn, Dugtrio, Nidoqueen, Kidoking & Rhyhorn. His gym can seem complex, but it is pretty simple to get around. The gym has a couple of the push-pads forcing you into trainers. Get through correctly so you can battle Giovanni.
Rhyhorn
Level: 45
Type: Ground/Rock
Ability: Lightning Rod
Attacks: Take Down, Rock Blast, Scary Face & Earthquake
Weakness: Fighting, Ground, Ice, Water, Steel & Grass
Strategy: Fast Water, Grass or Fighting Type will work the best.
Dugtrio
Level: 42Type: Ground
Ability: Sand Veil
Attacks: Slash, Sand Tomb, Mud-Slap & Earthquake
Weakness: Ice, Grass & Water
Strategy: Dugtrio will more than likely try and set up a Sandstorm on its first move, you can counter is with Rain Dance, Sunny Day or Hail. Rain Dance will work best as it will double the power of your water type attacks, which are super effective to everyone of Giovanni's Pokemon.
Nidoqueen
Level: 44Type: Poison/Ground
Ability: Poison Point
Attacks: Double Kick, Earthquake, Poison Sting & Body Slam
Weakness: Psychic, Ice, Ground & Water
Strategy: Heavy Hitter with Ice, Water or Psychic Attacks is going to fair the best.
Nidoking
Level: 45Type: Poison/Ground
Ability: Poison Point
Attacks: Double Kick, Earthquake, Poison Sting & Thrash
Weakness: Psychic, Ice, Ground & Water
Strategy: Heavy Hitter with Ice and Psychic Attacks is going to fair the best.
Rhyhorn
Level: 50Type: Ground/Rock
Ability: Lightning Rod
Attacks: Take Down, Rock Blast, Scary Face & Earthquake
Weakness: Fighting, Ground, Ice, Water, Steel & Grass
Strategy: Fast Water, Grass or Fighting Type will work the best.
Once you defeat Giovanni, you will get TM 26 Earthquake and the Earth Badge.
