Gym Leader #8: Giovanni - Ground
Giovanni has five Pokemon; Dugtrio, Persian, Nidoqueen, Nidoking & Rhydon. His gym can seem complex, but if you know what you are doing, it is easy. The gym is full of push-pads forcing you into trainers, if you get it wrong, the push-pads will move you back to the beginning.
Dugtrio
Level: 50
Types: Ground
Attacks: Sand Attack, Dig, Fissure & Earthquake
Weakness: Grass, Ice & Water
Strategy: Fissure is an Instant OK, but it is extremely inaccurate watch out for it, it will sand attack you then attempt to land Fissure on you.
Persian
Level: NormalTypes: 53
Attacks: Screech, Slash, Fury Swipes & Double Team
Weakness: Fighting
Strategy: Persian is more annoying than anything else, it is going to lower most of your stats and just attack with Slash getting a lot of critical hits - Hard and Fast Fighting is going to work the best.
Nidoqueen
Level: 53Types: Poison/Ground
Attacks: Tail Whip, Double Kick, Poison Sting & Thunder
Weakness: Psychic, Water, Ground & Ice
Strategy: I recommend using Venusaur (if you picked it up) as Thunder will knock out your Blastoise (if you picked it up) pretty quickly.
Nidoking
Level: 55Types: Poison/Ground
Attacks: Thunder, Leer, Earthquake & Thrash
Weakness: Psychic, Water, Ground & Ice
Strategy: I recommend using Venusaur (if you picked it up) as Thunder will knock out your Blastoise (if you picked it up) pretty quickly.
Rhydon
Level: 55Types: Ground/Rock
Attacks: Rock Slide, Fury Attack, Earthquake & Horn Drill
Weakness: Grass, Ground, Fighting, Water & Ice
Strategy: Rhydon is a beastly Pokemon is the first generation, a Bulky Hard Hitter is going to work the best here, probably Blastoise.
Once you defeat Giovanni, you will get TM 27 Fissure and the Earth Badge.
