Gym Leader #8: Juan - Water
Juan has 5 Pokemon; Luvdisc, Whiscash, Sealeo, Crawdaunt & Kingdra. His gym can be annoying if you don't know the route you need to take. You need to walk on each Ice Tile once, cracking it. Stepping on the a Cracked Ice Tile will cause you to fall down to the lower level, forcing you to fight some trainers.
Luvdisc
Level: 41
Type: Water
Ability: Swift Swim
Attack: Water Pulse, Attract, Sweet Kiss & Flail
Weakness: Electric & Grass
Strategy: Take out as quickly as possible, using Electric or Grass - Luvdisc can be really annoying with Sweet Kiss and Attract, crippling your Pokemon.
Whiscash
Level: 41
Type: Water/Ground
Ability: Oblivious
Attack: Rain Dance, Water Pulse, Amnesia & Earthquake
Weakness: Grass
Strategy: Rain Dance boosts the power of Water Types, strike quickly with a Grass Type.
Sealeo
Level: 43
Type: Ice/Water
Ability: Thick Fat
Attack: Encore, Body Slam, Aurora Beam & Water Pulse
Weakness: Fighting, Rock, Electric & Grass
Strategy: Fighting and Electric are the best way to go, as Water Pulse & Aurora Beam with counter Rock & Grass Types. Watch out for Encore as it will lock you into a move until one of the Pokemon faints.
Crawdaunt
Level: 43
Type: Water/Dark
Ability: Hyper Cutter
Attack: Water Pulse, Crabhammer, Taunt & Leer
Weakness: Fighting, Electric, Bug & Grass
Strategy: Crabhammer is a pretty strong Water-Type Move, so Electric, Bug & Grass Types are the best way to go.
Kingdra
Level: 46
Type: Water/Dragon
Ability: Swift Swim
Attack: Water Pulse, Double Team, Ice Beam & Rest
Weakness: Dragon
Strategy: Now it's unlikely that you have any Dragon Type Attacks or Dragon Type Pokemon, so I recommend weakening it so that it uses Rest - it's holding a Chesto Berry to wake itself up on the same turn, so do the same again, making it fall asleep. This is the best time to attack, use your most powerful Neutral or Super-Effective Moves to take it out.
Once you defeat Juan you will get HM 05 Waterfall and the Rain Badge.
